
Dr. Stephanie Karol Becker is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been providing comprehensive ophthalmologic care to patients on Long Island for over 30 years. She established her private practice in Hicksville in September 1994, where she continues to serve the community with personalized, expert eye care.
Education & Training
Dr. Becker completed her medical education through the prestigious combined medical education program at Boston University and Boston University School of Medicine. She then pursued her internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, which was affiliated with Cornell University at the time.
Dr. Becker completed her ophthalmology residency at North Shore University Hospital, also then part of the Cornell network, where her exceptional skills and leadership qualities were recognized when she was selected to serve as Chief Resident.

Dr. Becker specializes in advanced cataract surgery, refractive surgery, glaucoma management, and oculoplastic procedures. She has been at the forefront of intraocular lens technology, serving as an early adopter of multifocal and accommodative intraocular lenses. Currently, Dr. Becker is the only solo practice on Long Island to offer Light Adjustable Lens implant technology, representing her commitment to bringing the most innovative treatments to her patients.

Dr. Becker’s commitment to global eye care extends to her extensive volunteer work in third-world countries, where cataracts remain the leading cause of blindness. She travels internationally to bring sight to those most in need, performing surgeries and providing care to underserved populations.
Her dedication to advancing ophthalmology globally is exemplified by her establishment of the Becker Ophthalmology Surgical Unit at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, Israel, which she dedicated to bring the most advanced ocular surgical equipment to Southern Israel. Dr. Becker also founded the Research Eye Center at the same facility, furthering the advancement of ophthalmic care and research in the region.
Community Leadership and Charitable Work

Dr. Becker is deeply committed to her community, serving on the Board of the Bicultural Hebrew Academy, her daughter’s alma mater. She serves as Chairman of the Board of Jeremy’s Circle, a charitable organization founded by her sister to benefit children dealing with cancer loss in their families. Through this organization, Dr. Becker has helped aid over 1,100 families during their most difficult times.
Additionally, Dr. Becker partners with The Accessibility Accelerator, an organization that advocates for accessibility for the most vulnerable members of society. This partnership focuses on empowering and integrating people with disabilities through accessibility travel and providing assistance to people with disabilities in disaster situations and disaster relief efforts.
